Caring for your avarcas

The best pieces are the ones that show they've been lived in. A little wear and the occasional mark are all part of the journey.

To help them age beautifully, here's how we recommend caring for each leather type.

Full Grain Leather

For everyday care, a soft dry cloth is usually all you need.

If they pick up a mark along the way, gently wipe the leather with a slightly damp cloth or use a natural leather cleaner if needed.

If an oil stain happens along the way, don't panic. Cover the area with talcum powder or bicarbonate soda and leave it overnight to help absorb the oil. Brush it away the next day and repeat the process if needed. The sooner you do it, the better the result tends to be.

Always allow your avarcas to dry naturally and keep them away from direct heat or sunlight, as both can damage the leather over time.

If you'd like a little extra protection, a non-silicone water and stain repellent spray designed for leather can help keep them looking their best.

Metallic Leather

Metallic leathers are surprisingly easy to care for.

Start with a soft dry cloth to remove dust or dirt, then follow with a slightly damp cloth if needed, taking care not to scratch the metallic finish.

As with all leather, allow them to dry naturally and avoid direct heat or sunlight.

We don't recommend using water or stain repellent sprays on metallic leathers.

Nubuck Leather

Nubuck likes a gentler approach.

For marks or scuffs, use a suede eraser and gently rub the affected area before lightly brushing with a soft suede or nubuck brush.

Try to brush in the same direction each time to keep the finish looking even and avoid creating darker or lighter patches in the leather.

Avoid wire brushes, leather polish or anything too abrasive, as these can damage the finish.

If you'd like to weatherproof your nubuck avarcas, use a water and stain repellent spray specifically designed for suede and nubuck leathers.

• Avoid leaving them in direct heat or sunlight for long periods.
• A little wear, softening and the occasional scuff are all part of their character.
• Like all good things, they only get better with time.
